Jane Sanders was president of Burlington College from 2004 to 2011, and was forced out by trustees over concerns about college finances following the ten million dollar purchase of property from the Catholic Diocese. Sanders secured a loan claiming the college had $2.6 million in pledged donations, less than a third of that or $676,000 was actually collected.
